Perhaps the quietest volunteer group at UU AVL is the Pastoral Care Team (PCT). We practice silent presence, compassionate listening, quiet reflection, respect, and care for our beloveds who are vulnerable and in pain.

The PCT is an extension of the ministry of our congregation. We are the embodiment of the beloved community. We are called upon for a variety of reasons: the loss of a relationship or job, a medical crisis, the death of a loved one, a difficult diagnosis for oneself or a partner, or any other life transition that feels overwhelming.

We meet with congregants where they are, be that in a hospital room, a home, a coffee shop, or a park.

When people are hurting, we do not rush or advise them. We show up and accompany our beloveds on their journey of faith and healing. We are there for you.

Find us at the coffee hour wearing yellow name tags or by email at care@uuasheville.org.
