The Meadow Project by Kate Jerome

The Environmental Action Team is excited to share a plan to transform part of our church lawn into a vibrant meadow filled with native, pollinator-friendly plants.

This beautiful space will support bees, butterflies, and other wildlife while also reducing maintenance costs and creating a warm, welcoming landscape for our congregation and neighbors.

More than just a landscaping change, this project reflects our commitment to caring for the earth, being thoughtful stewards of our resources, and connecting with our community. It’s a chance for us to lead by example—showing how a faith community can make a meaningful, visible difference for the environment.

The board supports this initiative, and EAT is exploring grants to finance the project.

UU the Vote by Joanne Fox

The people of Hungary came out to vote in record numbers. I have read that there was anywhere from 77 to 79.5% voter turnout. The Hungarian people were able to defeat Victor Orban, a cruel authoritarian leader, and they won enough seats in their parliament to have a supermajority.

The turnout for the election in Hungary was 10 percentage points higher than the last election cycle. This proves how powerful people’s voices can be if we use our voting rights! Imagine if 80% of eligible voters in the USA got themselves registered and got out the vote? WE CAN MAKE CHANGE if we get out the vote.

Please consider joining the UU the Vote Team as we continue to work with our partners WNC Votes, Indivisible, WNC Poor People’s Campaign, Good Trouble WNC , UU Justice Ministry NC and the Interfaith Action Network. To connect with the UU the Vote team please contact me at jfox141@gmail.com.
