UU Asheville seeks to support congregants’ deepening engagement with Unitarian Universalism through attendance at events that focus on UU identity and fellowship. Congregants and their children are encouraged to build these connections within the larger denomination by attending appropriate events. As a congregation, we are committed to supporting economic accessibility for congregants, both youth and adults.

To that end, UU Asheville administers a Scholarship Fund that is available to congregants with financial need.

Eligible programs include but are not limited to: UU Asheville’s Gathering at the Mountain and Youth Cons or Camps. Note that General Assembly registration and Coming of Age heritage/mission trips are NOT covered by this fund.

Grants are generally awarded in the $50-200 range, and are awarded based on the following criteria:

  • Is the intended recipient an active participant in the life of the congregation?
  • Has the intended recipient received scholarship funds in the past calendar year?
  • Is the event connected to the mission of the congregation?

We require that any scholarship applicant also request assistance from the event organizers, if available. Please be considerate of our funds by asking for a scholarship well before the cut-off date of any “early-bird discounts.” We reserve the right to deny a scholarship for a full-price activity if an early-bird discount was available. The fund is administered by senior staff. Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Deadlines, when applicable, will be published in the Weekly eNews.
