Small Group Ministry
Soul Matters Groups
Small group ministry is a program of shared ministry, where we can each provide mutual support and companionship in our religious journeys in an intimate setting that fosters spiritual growth and mutual care. Each group is known as a Soul Matters Group led by a trained facilitator. Members and newcomers are encouraged to participate to delve deeply into monthly Soul Matters themes (packets are provided in advance with material for reading and reflection), build relationship with other members and deepen their understanding of Unitarian Universalism. These small groups meet at least once a month and are composed of 8-10 members. If you are interested in joining a Soul Matters Group or you want to learn more, contact coordinator Venny Zachritz at connect@uuasheville.org.
Blue Ridge CUUPS – Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans
The Blue Ridge Spirit Chapter of CUUPS (The Covenant of UU Pagans) provides an Earth centered approach to worship. We gather together in ritual eight times a year to observe the turning of the seasons including the equinoxes and solstices. CUUPS, a national organization chartered by the UUA, draws from the sixth source of our faith: “Spiritual teachings of Earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.” CUUPS exists for those who may honor gods and goddesses, ancestors, and all of Nature. We find beauty and depth in ritual, honor all pagan paths, and work to educate those interested in these endeavors. In addition to our rituals, we design other events, such as a labyrinth walk, drum circle, music program, and others.
