Green Sanctuary

green_sanctuaryThe UUCA Board of Trustees established a Green Sanctuary Committee November 17, 2004. The purpose of the Committee is to work toward certification of UUCA as a “Green Sanctuary”, a status recognized by and conferred through the UU General Assembly and the UU Ministry for Earth. The Green Sanctuary Certificate is awarded to Congregations, Churches, and Fellowships that affirm and actively promote our Seventh Principle of “respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.”

Being a Green Sanctuary is only the beginning…we will keep striving to promote sustainable practices, and environmental justice into our congregational community, our personal lives, and our wider communities. Can you imagine a congregation committed to accepting responsibility for the earth, being intentional in the choices we make and collaborating together as we seek practical actions to living gently on the earth? If you are searching for a congregation like this, then the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville is the choice for you.
