ISAAC DICKSON SCHOOL MANNA PACKS: We add specific nutritious foods (tuna, fruit or fruit juice & peanut butter) donated by our congregation to “MANNA PACKS” and deliver them to Isaac Dickson Elementary School every Thursday during the regular school year for hungry children and their families. We need drivers and packers for this project. Contact: Joyce Sexton

BUNCOMBE COUNTY SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM: This Summer program is designed to serve lunches five days a week to children up to the age of 18, who live in lower income neighborhoods. UUCA volunteers help each summer with this program, serving lunches at various venues and cooked by county services. Contact: Judy Mattox

UUCA PIE PARTY: On the last single service in August, we hold a Pie Party, with pies donated and baked by members and friends to raise funds for MANNA FOOD BANK. Each attendee is asked to donate to MANNA, who receives all the proceeds. Contact: Barbara Kruszewski

HAYWOOD RESPITE CARE CENTER: Once a month we serve dinner at Respite Care for eight patients and two staff members. Our committee members donate either a main course, salad and/or a dessert for 10 to serve the homeless, sick members who are recovering at the Respite Care Center. Also from time to time we collect personal toiletry items and donate them to Respite Care. There are other volunteer opportunities available as well. BREAKFAST AT PRITCHARD PARK: About every three months the Homeless Committee of ESJM helps prepare a breakfast to serve up to 200 homeless people. We work with several churches, and our committee is asked to bring hard-cooked eggs, sausage biscuits, fruit, and other items. To join this committee and prepare/bring food items, contact Gene Zimbalkin.

CROP WALK: This county-wide walk, sponsored by Church World Services, occurs once a year, usually in October to support local and world-wide hunger and poverty issues. Our congregation is one of the church sponsors, and supports this walk by advertising, donations/walks, both from adults and Religious Education children/parents. Contact: Lisa Bovee-Kemper

LOVING FOOD RESOURCES: We support AIDS victims by donating personal and food items in the marked bin that sits in our foyer The food is then delivered to Loving Food Resources. Contact: Joyce Sexton
