Whose Field?
by Paul Fleisig
Puff-chested robins
Hopping on frosted new green,
Seize turf presumed mine.
Eggs, robin-blue, nest
Above fresh crimson poppies
Saluting claims past.
Pure white snow anoints
Where blood from Cherokee feet
Once nourished this soil.
