CROP Walk Buddy Challenge

Are you looking for an opportunity to do some social action and affect positive change in the world? Do you want to get to know a child in our church’s Religious Education program? Mike Horak has discovered how you accomplish both amazing feats at once!

Beginning August 1, sign up to walk in the CROP Walk with a younger “buddy” in our congregation. Parents, encourage your children to sign up and walk with an older “buddy” in our church. Together, Taryn and Mike will match you up with your generationally different walking buddy, and then you will meet at the CROP Walk to march. Our goal is to have 30 adult/child walking buddies. You will be able to sign up for your buddy SEPARATELY from signing up to do the CROP Walk. We will have a table in Sandburg Hall on Sundays, and we will post Buddy signups on the RE Bulletin Board upstairs in Sandburg Hall. You will receive an email letting you know who your buddy is going to be a couple of weeks before the CROP Walk in October. Coming of Age will provide a soup lunch before the CROP Walk begins, and we would like to invite you to eat lunch with your buddy before embarking on the walk for hunger.

Let this event mark the beginning of an increased effort to join children, youth, young adults, parents, singles, and seniors in meaningful relationship with one another during church-related activities. We are a multigenerational congregation, each bringing our rich and diverse perspectives together, and we are blessed with the opportunity to know one another and to learn from our various paths and life experiences. This safe, nurturing church can be a place of true community and acceptance, where we care for one another and stand for one another in the spirit of utter dependence and love.
