2010-11 Religious Education Program Registration

All children who participate in our Religious Education (RE) program must be registered in order to facilitate recordkeeping and communication with parents. Early registration for the 2010-11 church year opened in May 2010. To receive a registration form, contact RE Assistant, Susan Enwright, ReligiousEdAsst@UUAsheville.org or call 828-254-6001 Ext. 205, or download the form by clicking the link below, and return to RE. Registration forms must be completed and returned by Sept. 1, 2010.

RE Registration Form for 2010-11

The registration form must be completed each year, even if you have registered previously. Preference for class placement will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to families who serve in active RE leadership roles. We rely on timely, accurate registration from parents in order to prepare the most successful and enjoyable program for your children.

Visitors and New Families
We welcome new families and visitors to our program throughout the year. Visitors may attend up to three times without registering. After the third visit the child must be registered to continue attending class.

Absences and Withdrawal
Due to high enrollment and limited space, we ask that families notify the RE staff or teacher if their child(ren) will be absent for three or more consecutive Sundays, so that we may make that space available to another child.

Family Expectations
Parents/guardians who register a child in the program agree to:

1. volunteer in the RE Program in some capacity (at least one parent/guardian).

2. bring their children to class on a regular basis.

3. stay apprised of RE class and calendar information, policies and procedures on this web site, in the monthly UUCA Newsletters and in weekly RE eNews updates.

4. make a pledge of financial support to the church.

6. inform teachers or the Director of RE of any special conditions or situations in the child’s life that might affect attendance or behavior.

7. notify staff of any changes in personal contact information.

Pledging
There is no charge for registration (except for special fees associated with some youth activities) since the cost of the RE Program and staffing is part of the total church budget. Because our operating budget is funded by our congregants (that’s you), it is important that all families whose children participate in RE make a pledge of support to the church in accordance with their ability, regardless of whether they are UUCA Members or Friends. Remember that your pledge enables us to provide for staffing, materials, class space, and other benefits that you and your family enjoy.

Volunteering
All RE families are also expected to support the program with their energy and time by actively volunteering. At least one member of each RE family is expected to fulfill a regular, active volunteer commitment. Check volunteer opportunities that interest you on the back of your registration form. Many opportunities exist to fit different schedules and interests.
